Australis, the person
Aware of music's deep qualities for communication since very early in his life, Australis has always been expressing through it. From his early compositions as a child, to his latest material at the present; his music is a declaration from his soul, a portrait of his heart.
Being born in a land of ancient cultures where millenary traditions are present everywhere and thousands of years of emotions are part of daily life; the sensibility of his parents ensured there were always musical instruments within his reach. And their wisdom provided enough space for him to explore creativity from his own evolving perceptions. Following these natural paths, he soon started to change and add to the pieces he had learned to play; spontaneously discovering the true purpose of music.
Everything changed at the age of twelve when he finally composed his first formal pieces. He had at last found what music really was; he was finally casting his own emotions in each chord, in each melody; and the fulfillment he was receiving from this new experience was beyond anything he had experienced before.
He never went back to play music from other authors. Instead, hungry in the world of songwriting where he was a newcomer, he started to absorb every possible influence around him during the following years; experimenting, collecting, exploring styles and genres... all this without a defined goal but only an instinctive passion.
As an effect from this intense process, he founded several bands and got involved in many musical groups during his teenager years, ranging from andine folklore to pop, from spiritual choir to hard rock, from solo pianist to improvised jamming; always using his compositions as the material for performances.
Instrumental, New Age and Electronic music was always around him, but he was almost and adult before he was prepared enough to recognize it as the most free and flexible genres for emotional expression. The fast pace of popular music and the semi-famous status reached by some of the bands he worked with, kept him distracted for several years from what he knew were his own musical purposes.
This would change some years later, when his father departed from this world. Awaken by that painful experience and reconsidering his whole life, he found himself wishing to concentrate in the essential aspects of life, wishing to avoid distractions that tamper with sensibility. Musically, this process translated into a natural shift from popular music to styles with deeper meanings and wider possibilities for emotional expression.
Today as a formal project, Australis' music remains a direct reflection of the human heart, painting the true emotional highlights of life with melody and rhythm.
